WHERE TO EAT FISH IN AMALFI: THREE RESTAURANTS NOT TO BE MISSED

Amalfi is full of surprising locations, such as the characteristic taverns scattered among the city streets or the restaurants with spectacular terraces overlooking the sea. Wherever you decide to stop, you will find menus full of options and a very friendly staff ready to welcome you with a smile, who will guide you in choosing among the typical fish dishes. Here are our favorite restaurants.

Summer often means holidays and when on holiday you don't want to think about anything but just relax. Surely, Amalfi will be one of the stops of your Amalfi Coast tour, and you already imagine yourself spending hours at the beach, while a light breeze caresses your skin. Or maybe you dream of losing track of time while walking through its characteristic alleys.

But I bet you don't know yet where to eat fish in Amalfi. Today I want to recommend three restaurants not to be missed, where you can taste the specialties of the freshest local fish.

Lido Azzurro Restaurant

1.La Taverna del Duca restaurant: within the ancient walls of the historic center

The first restaurant I want to recommend to you is La Taverna del Duca, in Piazza Spirito Santo. It is located in one of the many alleys, which recall the medieval origins of Amalfi, right at the foot of one of the characteristic local stairways and near the very famous fountain Cap ‘e Ciuccio.
The exterior is truly picturesque with ornamental plants that surround the tables decorated with the Amalfi ceramic tiles, creating a truly suggestive atmosphere; but also its inside is very charming: there are historical Medieval reminiscences and many Coastal landscapes paintings.

The menu is truly wide, ready to satisfy the tastes of every tourist, and the portions are rich and generous. Here I recommend you to order Squids and cherry tomatoes felicelli (a type of pasta) accompanied by a glass of excellent white wine.

A special feature of the place is to serve some dishes in the particular “tielle”, the Neapolitan pans, which in my opinion makes the atmosphere informal and cozy. This is great for those looking for good food and simplicity.

2. Sensi Restaurant: a light and unforgettable pleasure for all your senses

My second suggestion is the gourmet Restaurant Sensi, in via Pietro Comite, accessible through a flight of stairs just on the left of the famous Pasticceria Pansa. It is located inside an eighteenth-century noble palace, and its modern and elegant style fits perfectly into the classicism of the building that hosts it. It features a beautiful panoramic terrace overlooking the sea and its colors recall the Amalfi Coast classic ones.
From the terrace, you will enjoy the enlightened promenade view, the sounds of the waves crashing on the shore, and the exquisite dish scent, together with the traditional, and at the same time original, taste. This will become an amazing experience, able to satisfy all five senses.

The gastronomic proposals are the home made “Scialatielli” with seafood and the sea bass with clams, spaghetti of zucchini, lemon and mint.
All the dishes presentations are masterfully curated because you know, even the eye wants its part.

3. Lido Azzurro Restaurant: a terrace overlooking Amalfi's sea

The Restaurant Lido Azzurro in via Lungomare dei Cavalieri is my third and the last proposal.
As soon as you arrive at the entrance, you will find an exhibition of the day’s local catch in a particular exhibition boat. Inside, you will feel very welcome thanks to the friendly ornaments and colors typical of the Amalfi Coast.
Although, the highlight of the place is its elegant terrace, literally above the sea, with cheerful flower vases and candlesticks depicting mermaids and other marine elements. Here it is possible to see the nearby touristic port of Amalfi, from which the freshest fish arrives every morning at the restaurants, and the whole surrounding bay: a truly exceptional view!

How could you not choose a fish menu with this relaxing seafaring atmosphere?
The dishes here are abundant, I recommend you to try Paccheri with monkfish, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
