Positano - Le Sirenuse

Centrally located in Positano, Le Sirenuse is one of the most popular luxury hotels in the world. Its name reminds us of the small islands just in front of the bay of Positano, known indeed as Le Sirenuse (the mermaids) or  Li Galli (the roosters), and well visible from the iconic terrace of the hotel from which you can enjoy a stunning view.

This structure, a palace dating back to the 18th century, was the historic residence of the Marquises Sersale that opened its doors to the public in 1951 when the siblings Aldo, Paolo, Franco, and Anna Sersale decided to turn their shore house into a small hotel. At that time, the small fishing town of Positano was establishing itself as a holiday destination, especially appreciated by American people. Among the celebrities who stayed in this hotel, we have to mention the American writer, Nobel Prize in literature, John Steinbeck, who described Le Sirenuse in 1953 with these words: "an old manor house turned into a first-rate hotel, immaculate and fresh, with a pergola above the outdoor tables. From the balcony of every room, you get a wonderful panorama of the blue sea and small Islands, where those ladies, the mermaids, sang so sweetly".

The structure, enlarged during the 20th century saw some important architects in action, such as, the designer Gae Aulenti who planned the amazing luxurious Spa. Nowadays the hotel has 58 rooms and suites and almost all overlook the wonderful bay of Positano. In addition, the rooms are embellished with white walls, vaulted ceilings, floor tiles from Vietri sul Mare, and furnishings treated in every detail.
